Chandler Arch

NABSQNO 12S 582315 - 4370200

When Major John Wesley Powell passed down the Green River in 1869 he named one section of it The Canyon of Desolation. Desolation Canyon as it is now known still draws river runners today. On his second trip through the canyon in 1871 he discovered Chandler Arch. The arch is opposite the mouth of Chandler Creek at river mile 47. To reach the arch it requires a very strenuous hike over loose talus.

The arch has a span of 85 ft and a height of 75 making the largest arch in Desolation Canyon.
