Orkney – Mainland. On the west coast of mainland Orkney is the Neolithic settlement of Skara Brae. It is one of the best preserved group of prehistoric houses in Western Europe and dates back about 5000 years. Just north of Skara Brae the sea has punched a large hole in the headland – Hole O Row.

The arch probably has a span of about 40 ft.
