Rocher de la Vierge

Pyrenees-Atlantique Department. The Rock of the Virgin is a symbol of the city of Biarritz. The statue of the Virgin was installed in 1865 by grateful fishermen who were caught in a storm unable to reach the port then they saw a light to guide them. A footbridge connects the rock to the land and the arch is alongside the footbridge.

The arch has a span of about 36 ft.
